Keep light and heat in mind.
Choose packaging that helps protect the contents from light. Store the container tightly closed in a cool, dark cabinet, away from the stove and direct sunlight.
Match pack size to use.
Estimate how quickly your kitchen uses a bottle. A larger container may reduce unit cost, but that saving is less useful if the quantity does not fit your consumption and storage.
Keep the product identifiable.
Retain the supplier information and the dates printed on the original packaging. If your kitchen decants oil for service, keep the original product details available to the team.
Avoid a universal expiry promise.
Storage conditions, the oil and the packaging all matter. Follow the actual supplier guidance and product dates rather than applying one fixed shelf-life promise to every oil.
